Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Nafisa:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

I’m the Founder of Basics to Bloom Academy, a holistic training and coaching platform empowering women to rebuild their identity after career breaks through confidence, image, mindset, and spiritual growth.

With over 13 years in the pharmaceutical industry, I have transitioned from a Microbiologist to a Transformational Trainer & Coach, blending scientific insight with spiritual wisdom and corporate experience — the essence of my brand philosophy, “Where Science Meets Soul.”

I have conducted 1000+ impactful sessions across corporates, academia, and wellness sectors, partnering with organisations such as Capgemini, Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, Asian Institute of Gastroenterology Hospitals, and the National Institute of Nutrition.

Beyond professional transformation, I mentor students in employability and communication skills, guiding them to grow with confidence and clarity. My mission: to help individuals and teams evolve from Basics to Bloom, leading with purpose, presence, and authenticity.

How did you discover your passion?

My passion emerged from a deeply personal journey of transformation. After spending over a decade in the pharmaceutical industry, I realised that professional success alone wasn’t fulfilling — what truly mattered was inner growth. I had seen talented individuals grapple with self-doubt, communication barriers, and a loss of identity, especially after career breaks.

That experience ignited a calling within me — to bridge science with soul. I began integrating my corporate experience, scientific understanding, and spiritual practices to help people rebuild from within.

What started as informal mentoring gradually evolved into structured programs that have touched lives across industries and academia. Witnessing people rediscover confidence, reclaim purpose, and transform their mindset has become my greatest joy — and reaffirmed that this isn’t just a profession, it’s my calling.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My greatest motivation comes from a blend of spiritual grounding and human inspiration. My inner connection with the Divine guides my purpose, while the people I serve — especially women rediscovering their confidence after setbacks — inspire me every single day.

I draw immense inspiration from Swami Vivekananda, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Late Princess Diana and Mahendra Singh Dhoni  — each embodying values I deeply cherish: Diana’s grace and compassion, Swamiji’s spiritual strength, Kalam Sir’s visionary simplicity, and Dhoni’s calm, strategic mindset. Their lives remind me that true greatness lies in humility, balance, and service.

My parents and mentors have been the quiet anchors of my journey, teaching me that real impact stems from integrity and empathy. Together, these influences shape my belief that leadership begins within — and blossoms through service to others.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

My personal and professional growth has been anchored in three powerful practices — self-awareness, reflection, and continuous learning. I begin each day with intention-setting and gratitude, which helps me stay connected to purpose rather than pressure.

My background in science trained me to think critically and analytically, while my spiritual practices taught me to respond with mindfulness and compassion. This balance between logic and awareness has become my greatest strength.

I believe in adaptive learning — evolving with every challenge instead of resisting it. Regular journaling, meditation, and feedback reflection keep me grounded, while coaching and mentoring others keep me humble and curious. Surrounding myself with mentors and engaging in meaningful conversations nurtures my emotional and intellectual growth.

Above all, I’ve learned that growth is not about perfection — it’s about progress, anchored in awareness, authenticity, and grace.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

To me, success is not a destination — it’s a continuous state of evolution. The true pillars of success are clarity, consistency, and character. Clarity provides direction, consistency creates momentum, and character sustains the journey.

I believe in aligning one’s mindset, skillset, and soulset. When our purpose is clear, our actions are intentional, and our attitude is positive, success becomes a natural outcome. My journey has taught me that true success is deeply rooted in discipline, humility, and resilience — the ability to stay grounded through the highs and hopeful through the lows.

Equally vital are self-belief and service. When we focus on creating value rather than chasing validation, growth unfolds effortlessly. For me, success means living in alignment — where thoughts, words, and actions reflect one’s authentic self, and where one’s work becomes a ripple of meaningful impact in the lives of others.

What advice would you give to our readers?

My advice to readers is simple — don’t wait for life to be perfect to begin again. Growth begins the moment you choose to believe in yourself. Every setback, pause, or challenge carries a hidden lesson designed to shape your next version.

Invest in your inner world as much as your outer goals — nurture your confidence, communication, and character. Be open to learning, but also to unlearning what no longer serves your growth. Remember, success isn’t about speed; it’s about alignment — when your purpose, passion, and peace move in harmony.

Stay humble, stay curious, and never underestimate the power of small, consistent actions. Above all, live with gratitude and grace. When you grow from within, everything around you begins to bloom — and that, to me, is the true essence of success and self-leadership.
